The Challenge

Nestled in the picturesque foothills of Virginia’s Shenandoah Mountains, Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) faced a monumental challenge: the preservation of critical student records and historical records. With a mandatory 75-year retention requirement, many of their documents, some dating back to the early 1900s, were rapidly deteriorating. These irreplaceable records were at risk of being lost forever.

While the idea of digitizing student records was clear, several pressing concerns loomed over

OCPS officials:

  • Safeguarding sensitive information
  • Preventing damage to fragile, aging documents
  • Ensuring uninterrupted access during the digitization process
  • Finding a trusted, experienced partner for the task
